How to be the Best Birth Partner

The importance of birth support cannot be underestimated! And the support in the birthing room can make or break the experience.

I've been in birth suites for over nineteen years, and I have experienced very attuned and caring partners as well as those who would rather not even be around. The mamas who express the most positive experiences post birth (despite the physical outcome of the birth or if her birth plan was followed) were those who had uninterrupted high quality support from a partner who was attuned, engaged, and focused on mom throughout her experience.

You grounded presence can be a rock that she can cling to in the most challenging portions of labor and birth. Your gentle leading and compassionate responses to mama's needs can create an environment of safety where labor hormones can soar and birth can happen uninhibited - OR - your fear, your uncertainty, your own self-preservation may interrupt the flow and cause stress and chaos in the birth room.

The best birth partners are present, focused, and open.

Which will you be on birthing day?

Follow us as we talk about how to ground, be present, flexible, and bear witness to the strength and beauty in front of you as a mama is born!
