Validation...

"I'm Fine." Typical American response to the question of "How are you?"

But is that true? Or is that just what is expected?

Pregnancy can rock the world of any woman experiencing it! It may not always be in a bad way. Some women with absolutely love being pregnant, but for others, it is the hardest thing they will ever endure.

The unfortunate thing is that we are so accustomed to the natural response of "I'm fine" that we trick ourselves into believing that answer to be true.

We minimize discomforts. We shut down our emotions about bodily changes. We press down our own struggles because "it's not as bad as so and so's pregnancy."

But reality is: even small pregnancy changes can feel like big changes to us personally. And our body will remember whether we honored what it endured or whether we ignored what it was trying to tell us.

If you continue with the body scan daily, you can begin to bring the same awareness into your moment by moment daily life. You can use physical sensations as a reminder point to check in with your body and honor what is there (you can do a quick body scan in 30 seconds).

When we honor our body's needs, we are bringing validation to the truth of what our body is telling us. And validating our bodily experience is the first step in experiencing a healthy and holistic pregnancy!
